Melanie Taylor, a true Business Entrepreneur and now Author, is a 2002 graduate of George P. Butler High School and 2003 Honors graduate of Augusta Technical College with a major in Cosmetology.
At the age of 19, shortly after graduation, she joined Jazzy Hair Studio as an entry level hairstylist. After years of hard work, dedication, astounding clientele growth and perfecting her craft; Melanie decided to begin her journey as an international educator for Ashtae Hair Care Company in 2006. Through her extensive training and continuing education in cosmetology it provided her the opportunity to advance into her own business.
In June of 2008, now 23 years old with no experience in operating a business, Melanie and her business partner stepped out on faith and opened Unique Vision Hair Salon in Augusta, Georgia.
Within her 15+ year span in the industry, she has traveled across the states and abroad teaching cosmetologists at various seminars and hair shows. Her work has been published in Universal Salons and within Sheen and MetroStyles Hair Magazines. She had the privilege of being a hairstylist for a sitcom called "Whatcha Cooking” and appeared in many hair care commercials. With Ashtae Hair Care Company, Melanie has also been featured in Ashtae Product Knowledge DVDs on Black Network Television of Greensboro, NC and on CNBC "The Profit.”
Melanie had taken the industry by storm all before the age of 30 and within two years, having grown, renovated her salon and built her brand #UvCeretified; God gave her a unique vision, which is now The Stepping Stone. The Stepping Stone helps to nurture and grow future cosmetologist and other small business owners in one her small business incubator.
A woman of many accolades, she has been awarded The Centered Woman Award of Excellence, The Walking by Faith Business Advocate Award from Kiss 96.3, CSRA Business League Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and the IHeartMedia Cher Best Sisters Only Club Business Shero Award. She serves on the Advisory Board of Cosmetology at Augusta Technical College, Virginia College and Miller Motte Technical College of Augusta. She serves her community without hesitation from the youth to the nursing homes and she provides services to cancer and alopecia survivors.
Melanie truly serves as a role model for young females and single mothers. She is very passionate about mentoring, helping rising cosmetologist, and promoting positive self-esteem through her hair care business. She believes when you put God first in your life, anything is possible, and He can do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think. She goes on to say that your gifts will make room for you and that God makes what seems impossible, “Possible.”
